This created a logistical issue\u2014where would the municipal offices<\/strong> and staff be relocated?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solution came in the form of Palazzo Spini Feroni<\/strong>, a medieval palace<\/strong> strategically located near the city\u2019s new power center. Few people know that from this time until 1881<\/strong>, the palace\u2014now home to Salvatore Ferragamo\u2019s fashion empire<\/strong>\u2014served as Florence\u2019s City Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1938<\/strong>, legendary shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo<\/strong> purchased Palazzo Spini Feroni<\/strong>, transforming it into the headquarters of his luxury brand<\/strong>. Ferragamo\u2019s bold and innovative footwear designs<\/strong> made him world-famous, leading him to establish the Ferragamo Museum<\/strong> inside the palace in 1995<\/strong>. Today, the museum showcases the designer\u2019s most iconic creations and celebrates his contribution to Italian fashion history<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palazzo Spini Feroni in Renaissance Art: Ghirlandaio\u2019s Frescoes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This historic palace is immortalized in Domenico Ghirlandaio\u2019s frescoes<\/strong> in the Sassetti Chapel<\/strong> at the nearby Church of Santa Trinita<\/strong>. In the scene “The Miracle of the Resurrected Child,”<\/strong> Palazzo Spini Feroni appears in the background:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Beneath the palace, where the Ferragamo Museum<\/strong> stands today, lies an ancient well<\/strong> once used by the Spini family. Known as “Beatrice\u2019s Well,”<\/strong> it is named after Beatrice Portinari<\/strong>, the muse of Dante Alighieri<\/strong>.
