Around the Castle of Vincigliata, which is located not far from Fiesole, a painful love story hovers of which the complaints of pain can still be heard. The story of the suffered love dates back to when the castle was the possession of the Usimbardi family. The head of the family, Giovanni, had a beautiful white daughter. When the girl was 17 years old John discovered that despite his care and close white vigilance he entertained a love story with the son of an enemy family: Umberto del Mazzecca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The father was contrary to that clandestine relationship, but fate was placed on the side of lovers and when the war between Florence and Castruccio Castracani broke out, Lord of Lucca, Bianca’s father was forced to start to fight. At his side there was constantly a knight who protected him like a guardian angel. One day this fearless fighter saved John’s life, being injured. Only in that way did Bianca’s father discover that his savior was Umberto del Mazzecca, the secret love of his daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John, grateful, granted his daughter to marry the young man. On the wedding day, however, Umberto was assassinated by one of his relatives who could not bear the celebration of the wedding between the two enemy families. Bianca destroyed by the event died a few months after pain. His ghost is said to return to the man in the warm summer evenings.
