In 1504<\/strong>, Florence witnessed an extraordinary artistic rivalry<\/strong> between two of the greatest Renaissance masters: Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo<\/strong>. Ever the innovator<\/strong>, Leonardo<\/strong> chose an encaustic painting technique<\/strong>, mixing pigments with hot wax<\/strong>. Curiously, Vasari painted the phrase “Cerca Trova” (“Seek and You Shall Find”)<\/strong> on a green banner<\/strong> in his fresco. This cryptic message led researchers to investigate the wall behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
