“The opening to citizens of historic spaces such as the apartment of the Governor Bettino Ricasoli and the rooms of Florence Capital is an extraordinary opportunity to connect with the history of the city. For this reason, we wanted to propose a calendar of events offering the opportunity to explore the political history of Florence through these often little-known rooms. The guided tours promise to enrich the knowledge of these fascinating places, contributing to the enhancement of the city’s cultural heritage. Thanks to the volunteers of the Friends of the Museums who support us in our commitment to making history accessible to citizens, in order to create a precious link between the past and present of Florence, especially among the younger generations”.
“The six years of Florence as Capital were crucial for the transformation of the city – said the President of the City Council Luca Milani –, both from an urban planning, social and cultural point of view, but equally for the creation of a united Italy. In the rooms of Palazzo Vecchio it is possible to retrace this history and see the main characters, also thanks to the Friends of the Florentine museums, their preparation and dissemination ability”.
