Infiorata di San Zanobi: A Celebration of Miracles and History
Every year on January 26, Florence commemorates the Infiorata di San Zanobi, a vibrant floral celebration held in front of the Baptistery. Flowers are meticulously placed at the base of the column located there, symbolizing a miraculous event from the fifth century. This event recalls the translation of San Zanobi’s body from San Lorenzo, then outside the city walls, to Santa Reparata. As the coffin passed by, it touched a dry elm tree, which miraculously bloomed out of season.
