Florence’s fortifications, doorways, and towers could tell many tales of bravery and terror, of battle and peace, and of exhaustion and dreaming. They have preserved Florence’s marvels and safeguarded it as a World Heritage Site for hundreds of years. The beginning of summer brings with it a rich schedule of visits to some of the most significant architectural emergencies, put forth by the Municipality of Florence and Mus.e. This program gives the public a chance to learn more about Florence’s urban development history and to experience unreleased perspectives on the city.

It starts with Porta San Frediano on the weekend of May 25 and 26, organized in association with the Angeli del Bello Foundation. It may be visited on Saturdays and Sundays from 17 to 20 from June 1 through September 30. During the same time frame, which runs from June 1 to September 30, there will also be trips to the Mint tower and the San Niccolò tower, whose restoration work has just finished (every half hour on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 17 to 20).The Forte Belvedere, open daily for free access from 10 to 20, and the Fortezza of San Giovanni, also known as Fortezza da Basso, are also included in this calendar (Saturday 27 July, Saturday August 24, Saturday 14 September 16–17–18). The Forte Belvedere is open for visits starting on Tuesday, June 25.
