In December 1913, Mona Lisa was exhibited in the Uffizi Gallery of Florence in Italy. The director of the museum, Giovanni Poggi, was photographed while examining this famous painting. Mona Lisa had been stolen from the Louvre Museum in 1911 by Vincenzo Perugia, an Italian carpenter who kept it hidden for two years. After being recovered in Italy, the masterpiece was briefly exposed to the Uffizi before being returned to the Louvre. This temporary exhibition represented a significant moment in the history of art and the security of works of art, highlighting the vulnerability and priceless value of this iconic portrait of Leonardo da Vinci.
