Florence also participates in the European Night of Museums 2024, Saturday 18 May, to enhance the artistic and cultural heritage thanks to special initiatives, guided tours, presentations and evening openings for free or at a symbolic price. The event is sponsored by UNESCO, the Council of Europe and ICOM, the International Council of Museums. This year the Museum Night coincides with the International Museum Day organized by ICOM. The theme for this edition focuses on education and research.

The history of the Frescobaldis begins around the year 1000, when the first members of the family moved to Florence from Val di Pesa, where we still find the Castiglioni estate today, the family’s oldest agricultural possession. The Frescobaldis settled in the Oltrarno part of the city in Piazza de’ Frescobaldi where they built the loggia, the tower and the palace. The first news of the Frescobaldi winemaking activity dates back to 1308.
